Mission Statement and Purpose

Mission Statement
To provide a joyful, informative, mindful and social multi-day exploration of Humor’s role in connecting and enriching both our personal and professional lives.

Purpose
Held in Jamestown, New York, Humor Camp 2025 will begin in our hotel base camp before moving on to immerse ourselves in the comprehensive resources of the National Comedy Center and the Lucy Desi Museum; two venues that celebrate the history and achievements of 20th-century American comedy.
Humor Camp 2025 will provide an experience tailored to specific professional and social interest groups: care providers in the healing and helping professions (counselors, therapists, social workers, clergy, nurses, teachers); individuals, couples and families looking for more laughter in their personal relationships; people seeking to learn how laughter can help heal from traumatic experiences; and humor academicians. Where applicable, Continuing Education credits are available for professional licensure.
Humor Camp 2025 will explore the distinction between Humor as an essential and intrinsic aspect of the human experience, and Comedy; the more public, professional, and commercial art form that is built upon Humor. It is not the intention of Humor Camp to pursue Comedy for the outcome of learning how to become a professional comedian. Rather, Humor Camp is engaging with the hard-earned and well-documented accomplishments of top comedy professionals to, in essence, reverse-engineer what they have learned and shared; incorporating their insights into our professional endeavors and our personal lives.
Humor Camp 2025 staff have spent their lives exploring various aspects of the content being presented. We have come together to provide this “moment” for our colleagues and the people we have spent our lives serving, and to share together the fruits of a humor-informed perspective.
